BCREA 2014 Scholarship Winners

Baldwin County Retired Educators Association awards three scholarships each year to students pursuing a degree in education.  This year’s recipients are Meredith Phillips of Spanish Fort High School, Madison McAllister of Gulf Shores High School and Todd Bosarge of Fairhope High School.  They are pictured with BCREA President Beth Henson and Andy Schottgen, scholarship committee chairman and treasurer.

BCREA meeting Friday, March 21, 2014 at Kravers with Legislators

Baldwin County Retired Educators will meet on Friday, (10 am),  March 21, at Kravers Restaurant in Daphne. Retired Educators and guests are asked to attend and hear updates from legislators.  Educators are concerned about recent laws being introduced which affect education in Alabama.  Be a part of the legislative process by attending this important meeting. There will be time for questions.  A reminder to public high school seniors who plan on becoming teachers:  Please contact your guidance counselor for information on 2 BCREA $500 scholarships.

Baldwin County Retired Educators Association Membership

Membership dues are $10 per person for 2014-2015.  Any amount above dues will be applied to the BCREA scholarship fund.  Make check payable to Baldwin County Retired Educators Association or BCREA.  Mail to:  Andy Schottgen, PO Box 793, Fairhope, AL  36533.   Please include your name, address, phone # and email with payment.

July 18, 2014  Kravers Restaurant in Daphne,  Janice Charlesworth, AERA Executive Secretary and staff, Mr. John Hudson, AEA Uniserv District 32 Director.  Scholarships will be awarded to three high school students.

September 19, 2014  Mama Lou’s Restaurant in Robertsdale, Kathy Parker, Administrator, The Gardens of Daphne Assisted Living Community.

November 21, 2014  Kravers Restaurant in Daphne.  American Education Week (Nov. 17-21).  Honor retired teachers.

January 16, 2015  Mama Lou’s Restaurant in Robertsdale.  Representative from TRS/PEEHIP.

March 20, 2015  Kravers Restaurant in Daphne, Updates with Legislators and John Paul Jones, AERA Area Coordinator 3 West Dist. 6,8.

April 17, 2015  Mama Lou’s Restaurant in Robertsdale.  Mr. Cecil Christenberry, School Board Member, District 6 – “Tips on Gardening”.
